My Indonesian Honeymoon

There would be the day that I looked in the mirror.
Fascinated by the shape of my nose.
As I come a bit closer.
To touch the top of it.
Slightly and gentle.
I suddenly realize.
They are right!
It is kind of sharp and big.
Indeed.
And this was exactly the moment that I knew.
They’ve got me.
I now feel like an Indonesian.

And there was one fine explanation for all of this.
It was because of you guys!

Never in my journey I cycled a place that was so different from the place that I used to call home.
And never in my journey I had felt so much at home.
Impressed by the beauty of every single one of you.
Your smiles. Your endless positive energy.
They way you all welcomed me.
The way you all took care of me.
And it all happened super naturally.
I was taken in like I was one of you.
As if it was the only right thing to do.

Cycling Sumatra.
The place where I fell in love.
With every single one of you.

And then picture a surrounding like this and I am sure you get the picture:

My Indonesian honeymoon :)

Although I have to say, they still get pretty confused to meet a single lady along their way.
In a country where it’s all about marriage and starting a big family of your own.
They seemed to be slightly impressed by the appearance of this women all by herself alone.
They kept on questioning me daily about marriage and the missing of this mister by my side.
They kept on wondering whether he could be an Indonesian, this future mister right.
And I just kept on smiling, since there wasn’t so much to say. Besides the story that I already felt fully in love with all of them that I met along my way.

With a special thank you; to all the children on bikes that accompanied me on my way. You guys rock! Keep on pedaling!

Cycling Sumatra.
The place where I fell in love.
With every single one of you.
As I kept on riding my bike thinking; ‘yes I do’.
And before I left the country I had to promise myself as I promised to all of them, that I would reconsider this whole idea of getting married with this one mister man. As I slowly got to understand..

IMG_9451

Only, and ONLY I said, if he takes me on a honeymoon while riding our bike.
Thanks to all of you, I now know exactly what that could be like.

LOVE is BIGGER than any confirmation between two people.
LOVE is the foundation of LIFE.
That goes beyond being a HUSBAND and a WIFE.
